I'm happy to say it was accepted, and since then, we have completed several studio and location shoots for them.

Nougat London - Bath and Body Product Shoot

I've recently completed a 2 day shoot for the London fashion house 'Nougat' for their 'Bath and Body' range of products.

The Nougat Bath & Body range is stocked in distinguished department stores such as Harrods and John Lewis through to independent fashion and gift boutiques throughout the UK.

The brief was to create a series of images, to provide a cleaner more up to date feel, without completely moving away from their existing style, which has become easily recogniseable by their customers.

A series of 9 different product range shots were taken, each sympothetically styled with flowers and pearls, on a mirrorred dresser, (a regular feature of their exhibition stand).
The shoot was completed with each product shot seperately on a high key white background.

All images were supplied the day following the shoot, on DVD as hi res tiffs and lower res jpgs.

New 'Ben de Lisi' Jewellery Range for Principles

Having just completed the first of a number of studio shoots for the Jasper Conran jewellery collection sold through Debenhams, (examples below)
I have now been comissioned to shoot the new Ben de Lisi range, the latest designer collection for Principles.

The Italian born designer is about to launched his collection in the UK, also through Debenhams,
The first items into the country were sent via courier, direct to the studio, images were uploaded to the studio's ftp server for download, within hours of receiving them.
Look out for them on the Debenhams website, available shortly.

Jewellery Photography - Jasper Conran Collection at Debenhams

I have recently completed the first of a series of jewellery shoots of the latest 'Jasper Conran Collection', for inclusion on the Debenhams e-commerce website. View the Debenhams website

All items had to be shot on white, with minimal reflections, there were over 60 pieces to shoot over a two day period.

Each was shot in 'RAW' image format, for the highest quality image possible.

Each required post production in PhotoShop before being supplied in both hi resolution and also at a specific size for uploading direct to the Debenhams website though their FTP server.

I've a growing number of clients who produce cosmetics and toiletries.

I have always liked photographing this type of product, as the packaging and ingredients is so varied.

Backgrounds and lighting can mimic a products shape and form to create visually interesting images.

Reflective surfaces, the introduction of coloured gels and water produce greater interest within a shot of items which are traditionally dull.

Simplicity is sometimes best, a close up of a single product, good lighting and some subtle highlights dropped in in PhotosShop, create a visually stunning image.

I have shot numerous lifestyle images over the years, from furniture and soft furnishings to cosmetics and jewellery, each shoot is different, requiring a different approach to each.

Some clients have budgets which allow for stylists and home economists to attend, other clients leave the styling entirely up to the photographer, some are prepared to get involved with the 'hands on' approach.
I'm happy with any of the above, but prefer the client to have as much involvement as possible.

Exterior shoots require much forward planning, a search for the right location, choosing and arranging for models when required, the obvious weather check a day or two in advance and a planned alternative should it be 'rained off'!

I photograph a large amount of jewellery, some 'high class' expensive diamond jewellery,

some not so 'high class,

both however, require a similar amount of time and expertise spent on them to get the best from that particular item.

The difference is often in the post production, retouching work in PhotoShop.

The more expensive items, could easily have an hour or more retouching spent on each image in order to remove the inevitable dust and imperfections which show when photographed at the magnifications which are sometimes required for print work.

If however the images are only going to appear on the web, then less time can be spent on retouching, as they will only ever appear at screen resolution.

The fact is that if you are going be selling an item of jewellery worth several thousand pounds, then it's worth spending that bit more on photography and retouching.

If however your items are going to retail at a much lower price, then this obviously must reflect in the cost of your photography.
